I've been having an issue with my flash player for a looooooooooong time now. Basically, whenever I go to a site such as www.youtube.com the box where the movie should be just says: Click Here to Download Plugin, and whenever I click to download it, the automatic download fails and I have to go to the manual download. Well, that all works fine (I've tried both the.dmg and the.zip files) until it opens the Adobe Flash Page after the download and installation are complete, and I still get that message that I need to download the plugin that I definitely JUST downloaded and installed. This has been going on for a very annoying two weeks now, and I've even gone through my desktop and deleted a bunch of my stuff in order to free up my memory and get my computer running a tad bit faster, but that didn't do anything.

Frankly, I'm annoyed, and just one step from taking my computer to the store and getting them to look at it. I have an Imac G5 Model: PowerMac8.2 CPU Type: Power PC G5 (3.0) Help would be GREATLY appreciated. You did not mention which browser you are using. I had not had that problem with Safari (currently on version 2.0.4), but I wanted to replicate your issue. So I just downloaded and installed FireFox and went to YouTube and played a video.

I did not install anything extra. I am on a Flatpanel iMac G5 2 GHz running MacOSX 10.4.9 Have you tried repairing permissions with Disk Utility? Perhaps re-installing your browser is in order? Those would normally be my first two steps when an application is not behaving. It is the QT 7.2 bug that I have suffered from in the past. Though I cannot recall it exactly, one thread a few months ago on the Apple Discussions board had something to do with PPC Macs and the 7.2 bug.

Flash player actually worked fine for me, but that was on an Intel Mac with Rosetta software for Safari. Regardless, reinstalling QT 7.1 crashed and damaged Mac OS X beyond recovery, and I had no choice but to salvage my damaged system with my External HD. I used 10.4.8 after that and recieved better performance, and no video problems, but that was with QT 7.1.3. I have to run 10.4.10 now, but I have no more video problems. Surprisingly, FF worked better for me.
